Isaac TeSlaa thought his rookie dinner just turned into a financial nightmare — and Amon-Ra St. Brown was the reason… Binbin

While the Detroit Lions didn’t utilize rookie wide receiver TeSlaa at every turn, he still provided more than a handful of highlight-reel catches during his first NFL campaign.

The rookie wideout finished the year with 239 receiving yards and six touchdowns, with four of them coming in Detroit’s final six contests.

Recently, star wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown pulled a prank on both TeSlaa and his fellow rookie Dominic Lovett during their rookie dinner at Sexy Steak, an upscale Italian steakhouse in Detroit.

TeSlaa and Lovett were both going to foot the bill, but they were initially led to believe that it was going to be 10 times as expensive as the actual cost was.

Detroit Lions Rookies Isaac TeSlaa And Dominic Lovett Were Pranked By Amon-Ra St. Brown

When the bill came, both TeSlaa and Lovett initially believed that they would have to pay over 10x what the actual bill’s cost was in what proved to be a clever prank from star wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown.

“Well, we got our food or whatever, and then obviously Saint’s (Amon-Ra St. Brown) ordering whatever he wants, asking the server what’s the most expensive thing you got,” TeSlaa recalled. “And so then they bring out the bill, and it says $41,000. And me, Dom, and Meeks are looking around at each other like, ‘How are we going to cover this? We’re going to have to call our credit card companies and let them know there’s going to be this huge charge.”

“And so they take our cards, and we’re just sitting there sweating, going like this. Then they bring it back. It’s only like $4,000, so it wasn’t that bad at all. So St. Brown pulled the prank on us.”

TesLaa, a third-round draft selection by the Lions in 2025, appreciates that his dream of achieving life in the NFL is being realized.

“I was just kind of sitting back (at the dinner), and I used to idolize everyone that I’m sitting at the table with, which is crazy,” TeSlaa said.

“But as I’m going out to practice, it’s not like I’m thinking like, ‘Oh (expletive), these are the guys I’ve been watching my whole life. This is a dream come true.’ It’s just become a reality for me, and it’s been really cool to be a part of it.”

It’s team bonding exercises and good-natured pranks that can not only help elevate the confidence level of young players gaining their footing in the NFL, like TeSlaa, but also help him feel better received by his teammates.

“I remember coming in and being really nervous for camp and everything. I felt a lot of pressure and played a bit uptight at first,” TeSlaa said. “But as the season went on and I gained confidence in myself and from those around me, I was able to relax and play better.”

Isaac TeSlaa Is Coming Off His Rookie Season In The NFL

TeSlaa, whom the Lions selected in the third round (70th overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft, would ultimately finish the season ranked third overall among all Lions wideouts in receiving touchdowns behind St. Brown (11) and Jameson Williams (seven).

TeSlaa played college football at both Hillsdale College in Michigan and the University of Arkansas.

He would introduce himself to Lions fans in a major way during what was ultimately a Week 1 loss to the rival Green Bay Packers with his acrobatic one-handed touchdown pass from quarterback Jared Goff.
