Part 2:
You keep throwing punches.
The man doesn’t fight back.
Instead, he keeps shielding the woman behind him, taking every hit himself.
People around you start cheering.
They think you’re stopping a dangerous criminal.
And honestly…
So do you.
Then suddenly, the woman breaks free and throws herself in front of him.
“STOP!” she screams.
“You’re hurting the wrong person!”
Everything goes silent.
You freeze.
The crowd freezes.
The man slowly stands up, bruised and bleeding.
That’s when the truth comes out.
Just minutes earlier, the woman had been attacked by a thief in the street.
While everyone else watched, this man was the only person who ran to help her.
He chased the attacker.
He protected her.
He stayed with her until she felt safe.
But when you arrived, you only saw the end of the struggle.
You saw a frightened woman.
You saw a man holding her arm.
And without asking a single question…
You became the aggressor.
The man looks at you and says quietly:
“I wasn’t protecting myself.
I was protecting her.”
In that moment, the weight of what you’ve done hits harder than any punch.
Because sometimes the biggest mistake isn’t acting too slowly.
It’s acting before you know the truth.
