BREAKING: Trump COLLAPSES in Texas with FATAL MISTAKE!! – liplip

AUSTIN, Texas — A fiercely contested Republican Senate primary in Texas has revealed deep fractures within the party and raised new questions about former President Donald Trump’s influence in one of the country’s most reliably conservative states.

What was expected to be a straightforward race among prominent Republican figures instead devolved into a costly political showdown, culminating in a runoff that strategists say could reshape the dynamics of the general election.

At the center of the turmoil is Trump’s decision not to immediately endorse a candidate in the crowded primary — a choice that some Republican operatives now believe helped create a prolonged and expensive intra-party fight.

The race initially featured several well-known contenders, including Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, longtime Senator John Cornyn and Representative Wesley Hunt. Each candidate entered the primary with distinct support bases within the Republican coalition.

But with Trump remaining publicly neutral through much of the early campaign, the field remained divided.

Political analysts say that absence of a clear endorsement allowed multiple candidates aligned with Trump’s political movement to remain in the race, splitting support among similar factions of voters.

As a result, no candidate secured the majority needed to win the nomination outright.

Instead, the race advanced to a runoff between Cornyn and Paxton — extending the battle and forcing the party to spend additional time and resources on a contest that many strategists hoped would have been settled months earlier.

The financial cost of the primary has already drawn attention from party insiders.

Estimates from campaign finance trackers suggest that Republican groups, donors and candidates collectively spent roughly $100 million during the initial phase of the race. With the runoff underway, analysts predict that figure could climb significantly higher before a nominee is determined.

“The longer this fight continues, the more it drains resources that would otherwise be directed toward the general election,” said one Republican strategist who requested anonymity to speak candidly about internal party concerns.

The prolonged contest has also exposed divisions between different factions of the party’s voter base.

Paxton, who built his campaign around strong support from conservative grassroots activists, has positioned himself as the candidate most closely aligned with Trump’s political brand. Cornyn, by contrast, has emphasized experience and stability, appealing to more traditional Republican voters.

The split reflects a broader tension that has shaped Republican politics in recent years — the balance between the populist movement that rose during Trump’s presidency and the more conventional wing of the party.

Meanwhile, Democrats are watching the Republican battle closely.

In the Democratic primary, State Representative James Talarico emerged as the party’s nominee after defeating fellow Democrat Jasmine Crockett in a race that was far less financially intense than the Republican contest.

Following the results, Crockett publicly congratulated Talarico and urged Democratic voters to unite behind the nominee ahead of the general election.

“Texas is primed for change,” she wrote in a message to supporters, calling for a unified campaign moving forward.

Talarico has framed the upcoming election as a challenge to what he describes as entrenched political power in the state.

During his victory remarks, he argued that the general election will not simply be a contest between individual candidates but a broader struggle over the direction of Texas politics.

“There is something happening in Texas,” he told supporters. “People want a different kind of politics.”

While Texas has remained a Republican stronghold for decades, Democrats have recently pointed to shifting demographics and changing voter turnout patterns as potential opportunities.

Some analysts note that the intensity of the Republican primary — and the divisions it exposed — could create openings for Democratic messaging in the months ahead.

Still, Republicans maintain significant advantages statewide, and most election forecasters continue to view Texas as leaning toward the GOP.

Trump’s role in the race may yet prove decisive.

The former president has indicated that he plans to endorse one of the remaining candidates in the runoff and has suggested that the candidate who does not receive his backing should consider withdrawing from the race.

Whether such an endorsement would unite the party or deepen internal tensions remains uncertain.

For now, the Texas Senate contest illustrates a broader reality facing both parties: primaries can shape not only who appears on the ballot in November but also the political terrain that candidates must navigate once the general election begins.

With the runoff approaching and millions of dollars already spent, the outcome of the Republican contest will determine whether the party enters the next phase of the campaign unified — or still wrestling with the consequences of a primary that became far more complicated than anyone expected.
