Minneapolis, MN – Minnesota Vikings Owner Zygi Wilf has spoken out forcefully in response to the shocking incident at the college basketball game between the Arkansas Razorbacks and South Carolina Gamecocks, where a fan was accused of performing a Nazi salute and shouting “Heil Hitler” in the stands.

Although the event took place at a different venue, Wilf used the opportunity to reaffirm his stance against hatred and discrimination in sports.

In an official statement released on the team’s website and social media platforms, Wilf emphasized that such behavior not only tarnishes sports but also threatens the core values of American society.

He stated: “The Vikings do not tolerate hatred, whether in Minneapolis or anywhere else – including at sporting events in Arkansas or any arena across America. The Vikings are built on a foundation of respect, kindness, and community spirit, and we will defend those values with all our might.”

Wilf confirmed that the Vikings have issued a lifetime ban against the individual involved in the “Heil Hitler” chant and Nazi salute. This person will be prohibited from entering U.S. Bank Stadium as well as all Vikings-related events, including NFL games, charitable events, and community activities.

Furthermore, Wilf called on other sports organizations across the United States to join this effort by implementing similar bans. “This is the time for the entire sports community to unite,” Wilf added. “We must protect fans and athletes from such harmful actions.”

The incident at the Arkansas-South Carolina game drew widespread attention after a video went viral on social media, showing the fan displaying a swastika on their phone and performing the Nazi salute, leading to a brawl in the stands.

Police intervened and escorted several people from the area, but there is no immediate information on arrests. The Arkansas Razorbacks secured a convincing victory with a score of 108-74, but the event overshadowed the game’s outcome.

Wilf’s response has garnered support from various quarters, including anti-discrimination organizations like the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). An ADL representative stated:

“Mr. Wilf’s statement is a prime example of responsible leadership in sports.” However, some opinions suggest that the Vikings’ intervention in an unrelated event might be a way for the team to bolster its image, especially following similar past incidents involving prominent figures like Aaron Rodgers or Elon Musk.

The Vikings, currently preparing for the upcoming NFL season, are committed to continuing educational programs on diversity and inclusion. Wilf concluded his statement with a call to action: “Let’s work together to build a sports environment where everyone feels safe and respected.”
