🎬 PART 2: «The Daughter in Her Own House»

“…daughter.”

The word left the older woman like it had been buried inside her for years.

The maid froze.

Her whole face emptied in shock.

“What?”

The older woman stepped toward her slowly now, no force left in her, only trembling grief.

“That necklace belonged to my baby girl,” she whispered. “I had one. She had the other.”

The maid shook her head, crying harder, like wanting to believe would hurt too much.

“No… no, that can’t…”

But the older woman was already breaking.

“She was taken from me,” she said. “I was told she died. They told me there was nothing left to find.”

The maid touched the pendant with shaking fingers, then her own face, as if both suddenly felt unfamiliar.

“The nun said I was left at the church,” she whispered. “No name. No family.”

The older woman’s mouth trembled.

“Your name was Elena,” she said softly. “I called you Elena.”

The maid let out a broken sob.

Something in her gave way all at once. All the years of not knowing who she was. All the nights of wondering why no one came.

“My name…” she whispered. “Elena?”

The older woman nodded through tears.

“Yes. You were always Elena.”

The maid’s knees nearly gave out. The older woman caught her face in both hands, crying openly now.

“I never stopped looking for you,” she whispered. “Never.”

That was all it took.

The maid collapsed into her arms, shaking, crying, clinging to her like a child who had found home too late and all at once.

The older woman held her tightly, kissing her hair, her cheeks, whispering through tears,

“I’m here now. I’m here now.”

Then, pressed between them, the emerald pendant clicked softly.

Both women pulled back.

The stone had shifted open.

Inside was a tiny hidden compartment.

A folded note.

And a faded miniature photo.

The older woman stared at it and went pale.

The maid looked from the note to her face, breathing fast now.

“What is it?” she whispered.

The older woman’s hand started shaking as she lifted the tiny picture.

“That’s him,” she said.

The maid’s eyes filled with fear.

“Who?”

The older woman looked at the hidden note, then back at the daughter she had just found.

“The man who took you from me.”
