Vikings Immediately Release Star WR After Arrest in Tampa Bay on First-Degree Trespassing Charge, Along with Multiple Arrests for DUI and Reckless Driving Charges – The Incident Becomes the “Straw That Breaks the Camel’s Back” for the Vikings. teptep

Minneapolis, MN – In a shocking but not unexpected decision, the Minnesota Vikings have officially fired wide receiver Jordan Addison just days after his arrest in Tampa Bay, Florida, on a first-degree trespassing charge. This move marks an abrupt end to the young star’s career with the Vikings, following a series of legal troubles that the team had tried to overlook in the past.

According to the team’s announcement on the afternoon of January 14, 2026, the Vikings stated that they have terminated Addison’s contract immediately, citing “repeated behavioral issues that do not align with the organization’s standards.” Head coach Kevin O’Connell stated: “We have supported Jordan through many challenges, but ultimately, we must prioritize the interests of the team and the community. This is a difficult decision, but necessary.”

The latest arrest occurred early on January 12, when Addison was arrested by Seminole Indian Police at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa Bay. According to court documents, he was charged with a first-degree misdemeanor for trespassing in an occupied structure. Addison was released after posting a $500 bail, but this incident became the “straw that broke the camel’s back” for the Vikings.

This is not the first time Addison has been involved with the law. In 2023, during his rookie season, he was pulled over for driving 140 mph in Minnesota, leading to a plea deal for speeding and dismissal of reckless driving charges.

In 2024, he was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Los Angeles, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, and was suspended by the NFL for the first three games of the 2025 season.Ben Johnson just made life harder for Kevin O'Connell in Minnesota

The Vikings had overlooked these violations, providing counseling support and opportunities for him to redeem himself, but Addison seemingly did not change his behavior. Internal sources say the team had warned him multiple times, but patience had run out.

Addison, 23, was drafted in the first round in 2023 and was once expected to be a pillar of the Vikings’ offense. In the 2025 season, he recorded 912 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns, but his off-field issues have overshadowed his talent.

With the firing, the Vikings will need to seek a replacement, possibly through the draft or free agency, while Addison may face additional suspension from the NFL.

Vikings fans are divided on social media, with some regretting the loss of young talent, while others support the team’s decision because “repeated behavior cannot be tolerated.” This story is still developing, with the possibility that Addison will appeal or find a new team.
