INJURY UPDATE: Packers Rule Out 2 Key Players vs. Cardinals teptep

The Green Bay Packers will head into their upcoming matchup against the Arizona Cardinals with two major absences that could impact both their special teams and defensive front. The team released its final injury report on Friday, confirming that two vital players will not suit up for Sunday’s game at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Packers Coach Matt LaFleur Gives Final Thoughts On The 2024 Season

Head coach Matt LaFleur spoke to reporters after practice, acknowledging the setback but expressing confidence in the team’s ability to adjust. “It’s tough losing experienced guys, especially in a week like this,” LaFleur said. “But our mentality doesn’t change — next man up, and everyone knows their role.”

The two players officially ruled out are kicker Brandon McManus and defensive lineman Lukas Van Ness. McManus is recovering from a right quadriceps injury, while Van Ness has been dealing with a foot issue that has kept him out of practice throughout the week. Both were listed as “did not practice” for three consecutive days before being declared unavailable for the Cardinals game.

McManus’s absence will force the Packers to make adjustments on special teams, as the veteran kicker has been a steady presence since joining the roster earlier this season. Backup options include practice-squad kicker Anders Carlson, who could be elevated before game day to handle field goal and kickoff duties.

On defense, Van Ness’s injury leaves a noticeable gap in the Packers’ front line. The second-year edge rusher has been a key rotational player, contributing both as a pass rusher and run stopper. Without him, Green Bay is expected to rely more heavily on Rashan Gary and Preston Smith, while giving increased snaps to Kingsley Enagbare to maintain pressure on Arizona’s offense.

Defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley commented on the situation, saying, “Lukas has been coming into his own — his energy, strength, and speed off the edge are special. Losing him isn’t ideal, but this group has been resilient all year.”

Despite the injuries, the mood in the Packers’ locker room remains focused and determined. “It’s always next man up around here,” said linebacker De’Vondre Campbell. “We’ve got depth, and we trust every guy who steps on that field to make an impact.”

Packers Get Crumb of Good News on Lukas Van Ness After Win

The Packers (4–3) are looking to bounce back after a tough loss last week, while the Cardinals (3–4) are seeking to build momentum in what could be a pivotal NFC showdown. Kickoff is set for 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday.

For Green Bay, the loss of McManus and Van Ness is a challenge — but one that could reveal the true depth and resilience of a team aiming to stay firmly in the playoff race.
