Jameson Williams and the Detroit Lions, after failing to make any noise in last season’s playoffs, did not have the start to the 2025 NFL season they were hoping for, falling to Micah Parsons and the Green Bay Packers 27-13. Williams, to begin his fourth season with the Lions, did not have much of an impact, recording four catches for 23 yards..

With roughly 2:24 remaining in the second quarter, the Lions, down 17-3, faced a 4th-and-2 situation. Williams brought in one of his four catches from Jared Goff for an 11-yard gain and a first down.

However, after the play, Williams celebrated by getting into the face of Packers cornerback Xavier McKinney. However, no flag was called for taunting, but Green Bay’s Javon Bullard was called for an illegal contact.

Still, despite no flag being called on Williams, the NFL hit the former Alabama Crimson Tide star with an $11,593 fine for “taunting.”

Along with Williams, McKinney was fined $11,593 for a separate “taunting” incident earlier in the second quarter. Lions safety Brian Branch was penalized twice in the first quarter, totaling $23,186 for a “facemask” and a “taunting” violation.

Williams and the Lions will be back in action in Week 2 with another NFC North battle, this time against the Chicago Bears on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
