Bengals Legend T. J. Houshmandzadeh Calls Out Josh Allen’s 5–1 Record vs Chiefs — ‘Regular Season Doesn’t Make You Mahomes’.NO.1

Numbers don’t lie — but they don’t tell the whole story either.

Buffalo’s Josh Allen may have a sparkling 5–1 record against Patrick Mahomes in the regular season, but not everyone’s buying the hype. And one NFL legend — T.J. Houshmandzadeh, a former Bengals wide receiver known for his honesty and football IQ — just said what Chiefs fans have been thinking all along.

Houshmandzadeh didn’t hold back when asked about Allen’s dominance over Mahomes during the regular season. “The Bills are a regular-season problem,” he said. “But when the playoffs come? That’s a whole different conversation.”

He’s not wrong. Chiefs Kingdom knows the pattern too well. Buffalo shines bright in October, piling up highlight-reel wins and headlines, but when the lights get hottest — when it’s win or go home — Mahomes always finds another gear. Whether it was the 13-second miracle or the AFC title runs, it’s Kansas City, not Buffalo, that keeps hoisting banners.

Houshmandzadeh went further, adding that Sean McDermott’s Bills “play their cards too early,” dominating early games only to look predictable when it matters most. It’s the kind of critique that stings because it’s true — the Chiefs evolve when the stakes rise, while the Bills often plateau.

Meanwhile, Mahomes’ postseason résumé speaks for itself: three Super Bowl appearances, two Lombardis, and countless comeback wins. Allen’s talent is undeniable, but for now, he’s still chasing the man who rewrote how quarterbacks are judged in clutch time.

For Chiefs fans, the comments hit home. They echo the swagger of a team that’s been battle-tested, built for January, not just for headlines. Regular-season wins fade fast — but legends are written in the playoffs.

So while Buffalo celebrates their 5-1 mark, Kansas City knows the truth: when the lights go out and the pressure mounts, Patrick Mahomes is still the standard — and the throne still sits in Chiefs Kingdom.
