NFL fans duped for a hilarious, but obviously fake, quote attributed to Mike Vrabel after the New England Patriots’ win over the New Orleans Saints.
BREAKING
The #Patriots Head Coach with an interesting post-game quote that gained a few laughs:
“We got the trainers to walk over some ice packs to the referee locker room. Figured their shoulders might be sore with how many flags they threw. Wishing them a speedy recovery” pic.twitter.com/XOemDGzNip

The red-hot Patriots (4-2) narrowly held on for a 25-19 road win over the Saints, extending their win streak to three. That was despite several questionable calls against the Patriots by the officials, including this horrendous offensive pass interference penalty on Stefon Diggs:
Per ESPN, the Patriots were penalized 11 times for 65 yards. Despite that, the usually calm and composed Vrabel admirably avoided criticism of the officials that would have drawn a fine.
The @itsbostoncream X/Twitter account posted a fake story about Vrabel calling out the officials with a joke about them needing ice packs on their shoulders:

HISTORICALLY BAD GAME
THE REFS CALLED ANOTHER AWFUL PENALTY ON THE #PATRIOTS — A FAKE OFFENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE ON STEFON DIGGS 51-YARD CATCH.
The refs also made up a call on the Pats on their 60-yard touchdown play.

As funny as this quote is, Mike Vrabel didn’t actually say it. Still, the reactions from football fans were priceless:

“ that will cost him a Disney vacation when he grabs the check for the fine,” a fan said.
“well said vrabel,” another wrote.
“that’s going to cost him. $$ well spent,” a user commented.
“Watch this make ESPN ,” another said.
“Should not be a fine for that. He could have gone off. That was one of the worst officiated games ever. Non professional crew. Awful,” a fan added.
“Mr.K will probably pay that fine,” a user said.
At any rate, the Patriots are playing their best football in the post-Tom Brady era. And if the Buffalo Bills lose to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night, New England will be in sole possession of first place in the AFC East thanks to the head-to-head tiebreaker.
