The Kansas City Chiefs last season started three different kickers because of Harrison Butker’s injury. One of the three was Spencer Shrader, who this season was one of the league’s best until he suffered a season-ending injury in Week 5.
Shrader, who was starting for the Indianapolis Colts this season, is lost for the rest of the year after tearing his ACL in their victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.
“I’m just disappointed for him. He was having a hell of a season, so we’ll be with him to support him through this time,” said Colts head coach Shane Steichen to reporters on Monday. “It’s going to be very difficult to replace a guy like that.”
During his brief stint in Kansas City, Shrader converted a game-winning field goal to defeat the Carolina Panthers. His time with the Chiefs was also cut short due to injury.
Shrader is currently tied for the league lead with 13 made field goals out of 14 attempts. He was named the AFC special teams player of the month for September.
