Vikings Chairman Mark Wilf Breaks Silence on Minneapolis Shooting Tragedy, Calls for Prosecution of ICE Agent Who Shot Renee Nicole Good Dead, Deeming It Reckless and Callous – Reveals Family Circumstances That Make the Whole America Heartbroken for 3 Children Who Won’t See Their Wonderful Mother Return.. teptep

Minneapolis, Minnesota – January 8, 2026 – In a powerful statement breaking his silence, Minnesota Vikings Chairman Mark Wilf has spoken out against the deadly shooting in Minneapolis, calling for the prosecution of the ICE agent involved in the death of Renee Nicole Good.

Wilf described the agent’s actions as “reckless and callous,” while also revealing additional details about the victim’s family circumstances, leaving the entire United States heartbroken for three orphaned children.

The incident occurred on the morning of January 7, 2026, when Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old American citizen, was shot dead by an agent from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the intersection of East 34th Street and Portland Avenue in south Minneapolis.

According to reports from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the agent fired at Good after she was accused of attempting to ram the agents with her SUV during an immigration enforcement operation. However, witnesses and video footage from the scene suggest the incident may have been a fatal misunderstanding, with Good being shot at close range while attempting to comply with orders.

Mark Wilf, the chairman and owner of the NFL’s Minnesota Vikings, released his statement through the team’s official website and social media platform X. “I can no longer remain silent about this tragedy,” Wilf wrote. “The ICE agent’s actions were reckless and callous, leading to the senseless death of a devoted mother. We need immediate prosecution to ensure justice and prevent similar tragedies from happening.”

Wilf, who has previously spoken out strongly about the George Floyd case in 2020 and supported gun control measures, emphasized that the Minneapolis incident—occurring less than a mile from where Floyd was killed—is a reminder of law enforcement overreach. He called for the federal government to conduct an independent investigation and reform ICE, while committing that the Vikings will support organizations fighting for social justice.

Particularly moving is the revelation about Renee Nicole Good’s family circumstances. According to Wilf, based on information from her family and community, Good was the mother of three young children, including a 6-year-old and two others.

She was described as a “wonderful mother,” always dedicated to caring for her children and neighbors. Good had previously lived in Colorado before moving to Minneapolis, graduated from Old Dominion University in 2020 with a degree in English, and was striving to build a stable life for her family. Wilf added: “She was a wonderful person, a kind neighbor.

Even at that moment, she was taking care of her neighbor. I don’t believe someone like that deserved to be treated that way. And when I learned about her family situation, I even burst into tears. R.I.P Renee.”Donald Trump - BBC News Mundo

“Those three children will never see their mother come home again,” Wilf continued in his statement, evoking strong emotions from many. “This makes the whole America heartbroken. We must stand up for victims like Renee and ensure her children receive the support they need.”

Reactions from the NFL community and the public spread quickly. On social media X, thousands of users shared Wilf’s statement, with hashtags #JusticeForRenee and #ReformICE trending. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who previously called the DHS’s self-defense claim “bullshit,” welcomed Wilf’s call: “Thank you to Mark Wilf for using his voice. This is when we need leaders like him.”

Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar also expressed support: “Mr. Wilf’s statement is an important step forward. We can no longer accept this callousness.”

Meanwhile, DHS confirmed it is investigating the incident but has not yet commented directly on Wilf’s call for prosecution. Renee Nicole Good’s family has organized a memorial at the scene, with hundreds participating in protests demanding justice.

With his history of social commitment, Wilf and the Vikings may continue to support initiatives related to this case, similar to what they did after George Floyd. The Renee Nicole Good incident continues to ignite a national debate on immigration reform and law enforcement accountability.
