California. Late last night, chaos erupted outside a quiet suburban neighborhood when former Kansas City Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt became the target of a terrifying armed home-invasion attempt that was caught on camera. Police in California confirmed the incident early this morning, calling it “a highly dangerous confrontation that could have ended far worse.”

According to authorities, three armed suspects arrived at Colquitt’s property shortly after midnight. Surveillance footage shows the men smashing through the front entrance with tools and attempting to force their way inside. The break-in appeared coordinated, with two suspects breaching the doorway while a third stood guard.
But moments after entering, the suspects suddenly retreated in panic.

Police say Colquitt — or someone inside the home — fought back and resisted the attackers, forcing the intruders to flee the scene empty-handed. The suspects sprinted back to their vehicle and sped away before officers arrived.
Investigators are reviewing the footage and have launched a search for all three suspects. No injuries were reported, and police praised the quick reaction from inside the home but warned residents not to confront armed intruders if possible.
Authorities described the event as “a targeted break-in attempt” but have not confirmed whether Colquitt was specifically singled out.
The former Chiefs legend, who spent 15 seasons in Kansas City and earned a Super Bowl ring, has not yet publicly commented on the incident.
Police are urging anyone with information about the suspects or vehicle to contact the California Highway Patrol immediately.
